A 26-year-old city man wanted in connection with a September 30th, 2016 shooting that left a man dead on 12th Avenue was apprehended by authorities in South Carolina early Monday morning, according to police.

Police said Gyasi Allen was captured by the United States Marshals Service in Florence County, South Carolina and charged with murder for the death of 29-year-old Cosmeik Gee.

Allen is the second suspect charged in the homicide. Police previously arrested and charged 32-year-old city resident Jamal Wade.

Wade has an extensive criminal history that goes back more than a decade. Allen was previously charged with drug offenses in a 2008 drug bust on East 19th Street, according to court records.

Police continue to investigate Gee’s death. Gee was fatally shot in the corner of 12th Avenue and East 23rd Street at about 11:45 p.m. while sitting inside a car, according to police.

“The Paterson Police Department relishes it’s relationships with federal, state and local law enforcement nationally,” said police director Jerry Speziale. “The collaboration between law enforcement unleashes the power of the many to successfully track and arrest those responsible.”
