Police have charged two men for firing shots on Godwin Avenue last Saturday, said police director Jerry Speziale.

Speziale said Jimir Ricks, 22, and Jameik Williams, 18, whose place of residence have not been released by police, have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, unlawful possession of a handgun, and possession of handful for unlawful purpose.

Ricks and Jameik were arrested on Tuesday, November 22nd, 2016, according to government records.

Both men are charged in connection with a shooting on Saturday, November 19th, 2016 at 135 Godwin Avenue. Police received calls of gun battle at the location about 12 p.m. that day.

One area resident reported six shots were fired in the area known for gun violence. Police officers responded to the scene and discovered evidence of a shooting. Detectives Jason English and Benny Ramos investigated the incident and identified Ricks and Williams as suspects in the shooting.

Both men are being held at the Passaic County Jail on $1 million bail each, according to authorities.

“We would like to thank the community for their cooperation with the Paterson Police department. Because of community members helping the Paterson Police Department those responsible for this brazen act will now have to face the justice system,” said Speziale.
