Paterson should revisit teacher evaluation system to safeguard teachers against intimidation

letter-to-editor-hq

I’ve always believed that the purpose of a teacher evaluation was ensure that the teacher did well in the class thereby ensuring the overall academic success of the students. Should school administrators use this system of checks and balances as a leveraging weapon to intimidate, harass or bully educators? I don’t think so.

Sadly, I am aware of several cases wherein this very thing has occurred. Paterson Public Schools must revisit the teacher evaluation system to ensure all educators are getting a fair report. Again, I have personally witnessed it being used on teachers as a way to intimidate them.

I will not defend any teacher who lacks the sincerity or the ability to teach effectively. But I will stand up for educators who care. The ones I speak of certainly care for our children and as such must be treated with the highest level of respect. There aren’t too many people who want to help guide our children to excellence.

Why target the few good teachers we have left? It’s time to correct this practice. It’s time to do right by the teachers who care.

Again Teague is on the $. Racist and sexist administrators like Christine Lewis use this as a weapon to force teachers quiet on cheating scandals and grade changing like at my niece's old high school. She had a fantastic history teacher who wanted a transfer because of the psychological abuse he endured, it was a small school and she would tell me how she learned and enjoyed sociology but he had to dumb down the class because the principal wanted to get him. . He should've sued the he out of her and the district.
