14 people displaced, 2 firefighters injured in Paterson fire on East 16th Street

A single-alarm fire displaced 14 people out of their East 16th Street home on Monday afternoon, according to deputy fire chief Michael Fleming.
Fleming said two firefighters suffered minor injuries while battling the blaze at 217 East 16th Street at about 12:45 p.m. He said the firefighters were injured by falling debris at the scene and were taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
The blaze started at the attic of the two-story home. Firefighters had the fire under control within 40 minutes, said the deputy chief. The home sustained water damage throughout, said Fleming.
The 9 adults and 5 children displaced from the home are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
