The city has agreed to pay out $11,500 to a Sussex County woman to settle her claim a public works employee driving “negligently” struck her vehicle.

Donna Boone of Andover states her vehicle was stopped on Arch Street on July 15th, 2013 when public works laborer Harold Henderson struck the front of her vehicle. She alleges Henderson was “carelessly” and “negligently” driving his vehicle without making proper observations and “failed to maintain a safe breaking speed from traffic ahead of him.”

The city’s attorneys denied Boone’s claim that Henderson was driving carelessly.

Boone says the accident caused her to suffer “severe and permanent injuries.” She states the injuries resulted in her incurring medical expenses and suffered wage loss.

The city council on Wednesday night approved $11,500 to settle her claims.
