Paterson’s weekly drug sweep nets 46 arrests, almost 2,400 packets of heroin

The city’s weekly drug sweep yielded 46 arrests, 2,398 glassines of heroin, and $9,496 in cash, according to police director Jerry Speziale.

Police also confiscated 14 baggies of marijuana, 21 baggies of crack-cocaine, 16 Alprazolam pills, 22 grams of MDMA, and 15 vials of crack-cocaine in drug busts throughout the city from Jan. 31st through Feb. 10th, 2017.

City residents charged were Cara L. Walsh, 24, of Madison Street; Tremayne T. Rose aka “Rose,” 20, of East 26th Street; Lameek Taylor, 18, of East 31st Street; Jamiel O. Glover, 18, of Governor Street; Derick McFarlane, 34, of East 30th Street; Jose E. Saltos aka “Joey,” 56, of Highland Street; Gregory Spruill, 48, of Godwin Avenue; Arkia D. Marsh, 41, of North 3rd Street; Branden Anderson aka “Mykeem,” 23, of North 3rd Street; James McArthur, 54, of East 29th Street; Harry Alexander, 31, of Union Avenue; Elijah A. Walton, 22, of 20th Avenue; Divante M. Lamberth, 24, of 10th Avenue; Tydis Robertson aka “Bubb,” 22, of Madison Avenue; Ramir Harmon aka “Mac,” 20, of East 16th Street; Jose Medina, 56, of Paterson Avenue; George A. Hayek, 54, of Union Avenue; Laura A. Taff, 49, of Union Avenue; Larry Price, 58, of Kearney Street; Karim Banister, 20, of Vreeland Avenue; Malik Allen, 43, of Fair Street; Dahmier D. Garvey, 19, of Watson Street; Wayman J. McDonald, 30, of Ellison Street; Anthony Benjamin aka “K,” 27, of East 18th Street; Nejier R. Boone, 20, of Governor Street; Shacoby Q. Brinson, 23, of Garfield Avenue; Miguel A. Aviles aka “Mike,” 48, of East 18th Street; Juan C. Cosme-Romero, 40, of Park Avenue; Milton Moore, 47, of Amity Street; Tyrone Bennett, 54, of 17th Avenue; and Qyionte S. Johnson, 20, of Wayne Avenue.

Also arrested were Michael A. Alvarez-Zeas, 46, of Bloomfield; Andres Aybar aka “Alex,” 43, of Elmwood Park; Stephen F. Baldo, 31, of Fair Lawn; Michael J. Linder, 26, of Sussex; John Siciliato, 35, of Franklin; Naomi Lasane, 33, of Franklin; Eric V. Lezott, 29, of North Haledon; Gregg D. Applebaum, age unknown, town unknown; Victoria L. McNeil, age unknown, town unknown; Alexander Walters, 25, of Cedar Grove; Abdulla Mazokh, 40, of Wayne; Eugene Myles, 41, of Haledon; Jerry L. Martinez, 36, of Lyndhurst; Robert Zalewski, 57, of East Rutherford; and Richard A. Zalewski, 64, of East Rutherford.

Police arrested Walsh with 20 glassines of heroin at 401 East 28th Street on Jan. 31.

Alvarez-Zeas was charged with eluding and obstruction of a governmental function at Squirrelwood Road and Glover Avenue on the same day.

Rose and Aybar were arrested at 12th Avenue and East 23rd Street. Rose was charged with eight drug offenses.

Rose had 5 baggies of marijuana and 33 glassines of heroin, said police. Rose sold 2 baggies of marijuana to Aybar, according to police.

$289 was taken from Rose.

Baldo, Taylor, and Glover were picked up at 10th Avenue and East 16th Street.

Taylor was charged with having 20 glassines of heroin. He allegedly sold 20 glassines to Baldo. $253 in drug money was seized from Taylor.

Glover was arrested with 181 glassines of heroin, said police. Both Taylor and Glover were charged with distribution and dealing close to schools.

McFarlane was arrested on Feb. 1. He was charged with having 16 baggies of crack-coacine. He was also charged with dealing and dealing close to School 6.

Saltos and Spruill were arrested at 65 Godwin Avenue. Police charged Saltos with loitering to commit a drug offense; Spruill was charged with having 30 glassines of heroin, according to police.

Spruill was also charged with dealing and dealing close to School 6.

Marsh, Anderson, and Linder were arrested at 47 North 3rd Street. Marsh was charged with five drug offenses.

Marsh had 16 Alprazolam pills, according to police. Anderson was charged with obstructing a governmental function. Linder was charged with having 9 Alprazolam pills, said police.

McArthur was arrested with 8 glassines of heroin at Van Houten and Carroll Street.

Alexander was arrested on North Main and Arch Streets on Feb. 2. He was charged with three drug offenses for having 86 glassines of heroin. $120 in drug money was seized from Alexander, said police.

Police arrested Walton at 12th and Madison Avenue on a $500 outstanding warrant.

Siciliato, Lasane, Lamberth, Robertson, and Harmon were arrested at 472 10th Avenue, said police.

Siciliato, Lasane were charged with three drug offenses for having 50 glassines of heroin that were allegedly bought from Lamberth.

Lamberth, Robertson, and Harmon were charged with five drug offenses. He had 1,410 glassines of heroin, said police.

$384 in suspected drug money was seized from Lamberth. $7,090 was taken from Robertson.

Medina was arrested on Feb. 3 on Union and Manchester Avenues. He is charged with 13 drug offenses, said police. He allegedly sold heroin to Hayek, Taff, and Price — all three were charged with having 1 glassine of heroin, said police.

Lezott was arrested on Amity and East Main Streets. He allegedly had 10 glassines of heroin.

Banister, McNeil, and Applebaum were arrested at Highland and Sassafras Streets.

Police charged Banister with having 215 glassines of heroin and selling 20 glassines to McNeil and Applebaum. $150 was taken from Banister, said police.

Walters, Mazokh, and Allen were arrested at 107 Hamilton Avenue on Feb. 6, 2017.

Walters, Mazokh were charged with loitering to commit a drug offense. Allen was charged with three drug offenses for having 30 glassines of heroin.

Myles was arrested on 12th Avenue and East 24th Street with 22 grams of MDMA and 1 baggie of marijuana, said police. He was charged with five drug offenses.

Police took drug paraphernalia from Myles.

Police arrested Garvey and McDonald on Harrison and Carroll Streets on Feb. 7.

Garvey was charged with three drug offenses for having 110 glassines of heroin while McDonald was charged with having 1 plastic baggie of marijuana, said police.

Benjamin and Martinez were arrested at 10th Avenue and East 26th Street.

Benjamin was charged with six drug offenses for having 38 glassines of heroin and 7 baggies of marijuana. $248 in drug money was seized from Benjamin, said police.

Martinez was charged with having 3 baggies of marijuana.

Boone and Brinson were arrested on 12th Avenue and East 26th Street. Both were charged with three drug offenses for having 32 glassines of heroin.

$192 in drug money was seized from Boone.

Aviles, Cosme-Romero, Moore, and Bennett were arrested on Feb. 8 at 751 East 18th Street.

Bennett and Moore were charged with 10 offenses for having 135 glassines of heroin and 15 vials of crack-cocaine. Both are accused of selling 2 vials of crack-cocaine to Cosme-Romero, said police.

Aviles was charged with loitering to commit a drug offense. $151 in drug money was seized from Bennett, said police.

Johnson, Baldo (arrested second time), and the two Zalewskis were arrested at 44 12th Avenue on Feb. 10.

Johnson was charged with 10 drug offenses. Johnson allegedly sold a vial of crack-cocaine to Baldo and 10 glassines of heroin to the two Zalewskis.

$432 was taken from Johnson.

“The narcotics division will continue to intensify its efforts to reduce the demand and supply of illegal drugs in our city,” said Speziale.
