A 36-year-old Bergen County man slumped over the steer wheel of a parked car from a drug overdose on Park Avenue was revived by officers from the sheriff’s office, according to Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik.

Corporal Craig Goodson saw the Little Ferry man slumped over inside the car on Park Avenue and Summer Street at around 2 p.m. on Wednesday. He rendered aid and called for backup. Corporal Ken McNish and officer Francesca Vollaro arrived on the scene.

The officers saw a syringe at the scene which suggested drug overdose. They administered Narcan to the man which revived him. The Little Ferry man was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for further evaluation, authorities said.

This is the 17th overdose incident requiring Narcan deployment in Passaic County in 2017.

“I want to commend the officers involved in literally saving an individual’s life by acting quick and deploying Narcan,” Berdnik said.
