A 19-year-old man from Passaic City was shot in the chest while walking on Madison Avenue towards 16th Avenue early Monday morning.
Police located the victim at an East 18th Street residence at about 12:50 a.m. He sought assistance at a friend’s residence on East 18th Street after being shot.
While he was walking on Madison Avenue he heard sound of a loud argument coming from a passing vehicle; as he continued walking, he heard gunshots, and was struck once in the chest area, said police.
Police responded to the East 18th Street home followed by ambulance. He was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment. He is in stable condition, said police.
This is the city’s 12th shooting in 2017.
