A registered sex offender sexually assaulted three teenage boys in Passaic, Union and Middlesex counties and filmed the encounters, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Steven Brown, 41-year-old, pleaded guilty to various sexual assault charges, endangering the welfare of a child, and violating terms of his lifetime parole provision on Thursday.
Authorities said the three victims were between the ages of 13 and 15 at the time of the sexual assaults.
Brown’s activities were uncovered during a search of his Paterson home in 2012. New Jersey State Parole Officers searched computers and electronic devices belonging to Brown and found videos of Brown engaging in sex acts with young boys.
Police identified one of the victim. A second victim came forward shortly thereafter. Authorities charged Brown with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child in April 2013.
A third victim was identified and came forward to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office after he was charged, authorities said.
Brown was charged with additional offenses after the third victim came forward. He faces 25 years in state prison with 15 years of parole ineligibility, authorities said. After release he will have to register as a sex offender and undergo a sex offender evaluation at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center.
Brown’s sentencing is scheduled for June 23, 2017 before Passaic County Superior Court Judge Joseph Portelli.
