Paterson police identify suspect in 12th Avenue shooting

Detectives are looking for 20-year-old city resident Edward Andeliz. He is accused of shooting a 20-year-old man in the leg on 12th Avenue on March 1st, 2017, according to police.

Police have charged Andeliz with attempted murder and weapons offenses, but are seeking community assistance to locate him.

“We are confident that the community will assist us with locating Mr. Andeliz,” said captain Patrick Murray, who heads the Ceasefire Unit.

Andeliz allegedly shot the victim when a fight broke out on 12th Avenue and East 23rd Street. Police said the victim managed to successfully transport himself to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Detectives Michael Quinones and Ricardo Ferreira conducted the investigation that determined Andeliz was the actor in the incident.
