A guidance counselor from the Great Falls Academy is hosting a financial aid workshop on Monday, April 3, 2017 to assist high school students in completing their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Quatarra Benjamin, a product of the Paterson Public School District, who works as a guidance counselor at the Great Falls Academy, is hosting the workshop. She recalls her own struggles as a high school student in completing financial aid forms with help from her mother. Benjamin wants to lightens the burden for city students.

“Many of our students lack the time and resources needed to complete the FAFSA, such as having a computer at home. For this reason, I have created this workshop to facilitate students and parents,” Benjamin said in a written statement.

Benjamin will have representatives from the Passaic County Community College to walk students and parents through the college aid application process. This is the first financial aid workshop being hosted at the Great Falls Academy.

Workshop will run from 5 to 8 p.m. at 13 Wagaraw Boulevard in Prospect Park. All Paterson high school seniors and their parents are encouraged to attend the workshop.

For more information contact Benjamin at 973-321-1000, ext. 12388.
