Two city men were wounded in an early Monday morning shooting on North Main Street, according to police.

Police said the victims — 22-year-old and 24-year-old — were wounded in a shooting on North Main and East Main Streets at about 2 a.m.

The 22-year-old man was shot in the torso. He was treated and released from hospital. The 24-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to the foot, said police.

Police received reports of gunfire in the area. Officers located a shooting scene, but did not find any victims. While police officers were at the scene investigating, information was received from two different residences of two men having been shot at the location.

Both victims were shot on North Main Street, police said. This incident follows a violent weekend in Paterson.

Over the last three days, 1 person was killed and 6 people have been wounded, according to police. A 15-year-old and an 18-year-old were shot on Governor Street on Saturday night, police said.

Police said the 22-year-old man has been treated and released and the 24-year-old is in stable condition at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center.

“The department is reviewing this uptick in violence to determine any interconnectivity and will plan strategically to address this matter swiftly and decisively,” said police director Jerry Speziale.

Police are investigating the shootings.
