A Bergen County man received a 13.5-year prison sentence for purchasing more than 6.6 pounds of heroin from a source in Bronx, New York and re-selling it to drug dealers in Paterson, according to acting U.S. Attorney William E. Fitzpatrick’s office.

Edwin Lopez, 31, of Elmwood Park, pleaded to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than a kilogram of heroin, authorities said. He allegedly participated in a drug trafficking organization that amassed large quantities of heroin at multiple locations around the Bronx and used couriers to deliver to mid-level drug dealers in Paterson, authorities said.

Authorities said the organization’s heroin was sold in the Paterson and redistributed to street-level dealers in Morris County, New Jersey and Rockland County, New York. Lopez, known on the street as “E” and “Pan” participated in the organization from June 2015 to May 2016, authorities said.

Lopez was among five people arrested in 2006 following a drug bust. At the time of arrest, he admitted to giving a $13,500 payment to a courier who worked for Pablo Goris-Castellano, 25, of Bronx, in exchange for 150 bricks of heroin, authorities said.

Judge Susan D. Wigenton sentenced Lopez, authorities said on Tuesday. In addition to prison time, she sentenced him to five years of supervised release.
