Two people were wounded in an early Sunday morning shooting on East 28th Street and 15th Avenue, according to police.

Police said two city men – 36-year-old and 26-year-old – were wounded when gunfire rang out at about 4:40 a.m. Both men got themselves to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center via private vehicle for treatment, said police director Jerry Speziale.

The 36-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the arm and is in stable condition; the 26-year-old was struck in the arm-torso area and is in critical condition, according to police.

There is no word on what led to the shooting or the circumstances surrounding the incident. Police continue to investigate the incident.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact detectives Michael Quinones or Ricardo Ferreira of the Paterson Police Ceasefire Unit at 973-321-1342.
