Paterson resident: School board needs people like Fannia Santana

letter-to-editor-hq

This November 7th, I want to encourage every voter in the city of Paterson to cast their vote to elect Fannia Santana for Commissioner of the Paterson Board of Education.

Fannia is a success story; she is an example for our youth to follow. She immigrated to the United States from the Dominican Republic at a young age. Like most of our immigrants, she struggled with language barrier. But that did not stop Fannia; she graduated Eastside High School with excellent grades. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Montclair State University; and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree from Rutgers University.

The Paterson School Board of Education needs people like Fannia who are willing to serve our community with a genuine desire to contribute on the improvement of our school system.

By knowing Fannia Santana, I strongly believe that she’ll play an important role in Paterson Board of Education. She has been a student in the Paterson school district; she knows the strength and weakness of our system. And more importantly, she is convinced that as a Paterson Board of Education Commissioner, she will be able to contribute in the improvement of our schools; so our children will have a greater chance of succeeding in their education.

On November 7th please join me in voting for Fannia Santana, “H-8-The Best Choice.”

what is her stance on charters? teacher's union? You dont get elected if your just a pretty face.

    • Paterson Nineteensixties

Right. She has yet to speak at any educational forum about where she stands on any issue yet he wants us to vote for her. Only in Paterson.

  • Dominick Perez

She will be a thief just like the rest of them. School Board is a stepping stone to where the real cheesecake is, just ask Andre Sayegh. He's a millionaire now because of his master Florio. All Paterson politicians are scumbag thieves, from the new Mayor on down. Rodriguez loaned his campaign $20K, where the hell did he get that from while working in the public sector????

    • MarquinhoGaucho

How do you know he's a "millionaire"? You have his tax return? Florio was from like the early 90s..If he was that rich as you say I doubt he'd still live in Paterson. Sayegh is the only good guy from the whole rotten bunch. In my neighborhood in South Paterson, he chases out the riff-raff (hookah bars that attract thugs, drug dealers) and its the only part of Paterson that has economic development. Look how Main Ave is on the up and up. Also there was a dangerous intersection near my house, we called him to complain, 3 days later stop signs were at both corners and in 3 years there hasn't been an accident. He should be our next mayor hands down, put the voters would rather have someone who keeps Paterson dysfunctional it seems.

      • Dominick Perez

Florio is the slumlord who backs Sayegh, I guess it's okay that he's just another crooked politician because he had some stop signs put up for you lol.

        • MarquinhoGaucho

proof? Campaign contribution receipts? Articles citing the receipts? Links welcomed.

          • Dominick Perez

I think these thieves are a little smarter than that, Sayegh is a sc*mbag on the take just like the rest of them. You'll see in a few years when it's his turn to go to prison.

This letter gave us no real information about the candidate. At a minimum we should hope that someone who wants to be on the school board in Paterson was once a student of its schools. I appreciate the effort made to make her relatable, but to cast my vote I need more facts.
