A city man won $100,000 from a scratch-off lottery ticket purchased from a 21st Avenue store, the New Jersey Lottery stated on Tuesday morning.

Carlos Rodriguez purchased a $5 “Hot Spot Bingo” scratch-off ticket from Azan Mart on 21st Avenue. He took the ticket home to play.

Rodriguez began scratching through the eight bingo games on the ticket. The final game on the scratch-off began forming an X pattern. If the X was complete Rodriguez would win a $100,000 prize.

Rodriguez had a winning ticket in his hand, but he was in doubt. He checked the ticket many times and had his family look at it as well. Still uncertain, the next day, he took the ticket to the Lottery Headquarters to check.

The ticket was validated and his win was confirmed.

This isn’t the first time Rodriguez won. A few months earlier, Rodriguez won $3,000 from playing Pick-4, according to the lottery.

Rodriguez will put the money towards a home purchase.
