Police were investigating reports of gunfire on Market Street, behind Eastside High School, on Tuesday night.
Police director Jerry Speziale said officers detained several people, but no one has been charged in the incident.
Shots were fired little before 8 p.m. as a basketball game was being played inside the high school’s gym.
Police coordinated with school security and had the building shut down.
“We put all our units there. We stayed in the area until school was let out,” said Speziale. Police officers saturated the area and ensured safe passage for students.
Speziale said no one was injured in the incident.
Both Park Avenue and Market Street were shut down while police conducted their investigation.
