A city man involved in a domestic violence incident early Wednesday morning was later wounded in a shooting on Godwin Avenue, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Authorities said Javeska R. Uter, 29-years-old, allegedly assaulted a person in front of the victim’s children while in possession of a handgun. He fled the scene, but ended up being the victim of a shooting on Godwin Avenue and Carroll Street at around 2:20 a.m.
Police arrived on the scene to find the victim had suffered non-fatal gunshot wounds. He was placed under arrest for three counts of child endangerment, criminal mischief, unlawful gun possession, simple assault, disorderly persons offense, authorities said.
Uter was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment, authorities said.
If convicted on the all of the charges, Uter could face a long prison sentence.
