I feel confident and secure endorsing the candidacy of the newly certified candidate in Paterson’s council at-large election as I’ve known him since he was a teenager and a participant in a summer leadership program I was the facilitator of, at the Paterson YMCA.

He was then sixteen years old and a junior at PCTI. I remember thinking on the second day of the program that he was an impressive young person, and definitely had the potential to become a leader among his peers and he did not disappoint.

Now, approximately seventeen years later, this home grown young man I see as a giant among his peers. Graduation from PCTI was followed by graduation from an accredited college, then graduate school where he got an MBA in finance. He has worked for eight years in very responsible positions for several of the most successful businesses in the world.

At the end of this year, he will graduate from Rutgers University Law School. I would submit that his credentials are unmatched by any other candidate running for this office. You may question what this young man has done for Paterson. Unlike many of his competitors, this person does not scream his successes from roof tops, but in his own quiet way, he has done more than many.

His accomplishments for Paterson are long and varied. For the past three years he has been the facilitator for Paerson’s most vulnerable population, running a youth group at St. Luke’s Church. He doesn’t only talk about community development but has done it by purchasing abandoned buildings to provide stable housing for those in need in the 4th Ward. Since he is a believer in helping to make people self-sufficient, he took a homeless young man into one of his rehabilitated properties and taught him necessary skills.

He knows Paterson well as he not only grew up in the 4th Ward, but continues to live in it hearing the gun shots in the night. The only time he didn’t live here was when he was away at college getting his under graduate degree.

His life and campaign slogan is, “Less Talk, More Action.” He is the young man all of us would want as our son, God son, grandson, councilman. He is humble, kind, smart, and his heart is in the right place; wanting nothing more than making his home town an alive, safe city for all. He has the goods and would make all of us proud to have him in City Hall as he knows finance, community development, budgets, and the law.

It is an honor to present to you our newest certified council at-large candidate: Mr. Davon Roberts, the candidate for all of Paterson.

Davon doesn’t talk the talk. He has been walking the walk for a long time, and I would feel very secure with him as a councilman in Paterson.
