One person was shot to death and another was wounded at a downtown Paterson nightclub early Saturday morning.

Police located one man in the middle of the D’Classico Restaurant’s parking lot at around 1:45 a.m. and a second victim arrived at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center seeking treatment.

Parker Sams, 22, of Garfield, was killed in the shooting. He was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center but succumbed to his injuries, authorities said.

The homicide is the city’s first in four months. The last killing happened on December 11, 2017. 37-year-old Keyantay Deas died from gunshot wounds at 327 12th Avenue.

D’Classico Restaurant has been a trouble spot in the city. In 2015, the city suspended the bar’s license over a brawl that occurred inside. At the time, police cited the bar for a number of liquor license and municipal ordinance violations including exceeding capacity.

The nightclub received a 12-day suspension.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office at 1-877-370-PCPO or the Paterson Police Detective Bureau at 973-321-1120.
