Body pulled out of Passaic River in Paterson

Firefighters used a boat to pull out a body from the section of the Passaic River that runs behind John F. Kennedy High School on Tuesday afternoon.

Police and firefighters received report of a body floating in the river at around 1:40 p.m.

“Upon their arrival, officers observed the remains of a deceased unidentified male in the river,” said Passaic County prosecutor Camelia Valdes in a statement late Tuesday.  “The remains were recovered from the river with the assistance of the Paterson Fire Department. At this time, the deceased individual remains unidentified.”

The investigation remains “ongoing.” It is being conducted by police, prosecutor’s office, and the New Jersey Medical Examiner’s Office.
