The body of a man found inside a vacant multi-family home in Totowa has been positively identified as that of a Paterson man, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Luis Rodrigues, 22-year-old, was found badly decomposed inside 340 Totowa Road in Totowa on Tuesday, authorities said.

Authorities said a concerned citizen called police at around 1:21 p.m. on Tuesday to complain about a strange odor coming from the vacant building. Police located what appeared to be the body of a dead female inside the building.

The condition of the body did not allow for an identification at the scene. The Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s office in Newark identified the body following an autopsy, authorities said.

Manner and cause of the death is yet to be determined, authorities said.

“The preliminary results of the investigation suggest that there is no indication that the death is suspicious. At this time, no suspects are being sought, and there is nothing to indicate that there is any danger to the public,” the prosecutor’s office said on Friday.
