Paterson Community Health Center receives $1.63 million federal grant

The Paterson Community Health Center received a $1.63 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to provide primary health care to low-income city residents, announced congressman Bill Pascrell on Thursday afternoon.
“This grant will allow Paterson Community Health Center to continue providing high-quality health care services to the Patersonians that need it most,” Pascrell said. In addition to providing primary care services, the Paterson Community Health Center provides oral and mental health services.
The center also provides substance abuse services. It provides on-site dental services at community-based organizations, schools, day care centers, churches, and public housing developments.
It has two locations at 32 Clinton Street and 227 Broadway. Both locations serve individuals and families who are uninsured or underinsured. A mobile van helps the center take health and dental care services to residents.
“For decades, Paterson Community Health has offered cost-effective and accessible care to our community,” Pascrell said. “So long as I am in office, I will fight to make sure that community health centers have the means they need to continue providing world class treatment to our residents.”
The center opened in 1979.
