Municipal officials agreed to pay $75,000 to settle a city man’s lawsuit that alleged a police officer attacked him at gunpoint.

Faraj Murra alleged police officer Luis Torres “physically attacked” him at “gunpoint” on Sept. 23, 2015.

Murray got out of a barbershop and was walking down the street, when he crossed paths with Torres, who was off-duty at the time and inside a car, according to the lawsuit.

Torres allegedly “grabbed” Murra, pulled his service weapon, and pointed it at him in a “threatening and menacing manner.”

Murra alleged Torres targeted him because of his race and ethnicity. Murra is a Muslim while Torres is Hispanic, according to the complaint. He filed an “excessive force” complaint that went nowhere, according to the lawsuit filed in 2016.

Council members approved the settlement on Tuesday night without making any public comments.
