The McDonald’s sandwiched between Market Street and 21st Avenue has been approved for a $850,000 facelift.

The fast food joint in the People’s Park neighborhood will refurbish the building’s façade, handle extensive interior alterations and renovations, and widen the drive-thru lane, according to documents submitted to the municipal government.

Part of the rehabilitation project includes general signage replacement and landscaping. Parking spaces at the business will be reduced from 26 to 24 spaces. Parking lot will be repaved and restriped.

It’s not clear when work will begin or whether the joint will be closed during the renovation. A representative for the McDonald’s at 835 Market Street could not immediately be reached for comments on Tuesday morning.

The business operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The location employs 22 people, according to documents submitted to the municipal government.

The franchisee, who owns the Market Street location, also owns the McDonald’s on Broadway.

The city approved the renovation project last week.
