A house fire on Oak Street displaced five people or two families from their homes late Saturday night.

Firefighters rescued a woman from the second floor of the burning two-story building using a 24 feet ladder, said deputy fire chief William Henderson. He said the fire at 26 Oak Street came in at 11:33 p.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters saw smoke on the second floor of the structure. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze.

Henderson said no one was injured in the blaze.

The displaced families are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

Cause of the fire remains under investigation, said the deputy chief.
