The police closed down an illegal bar operating out of a storefront on 21st Avenue in Paterson, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.

Carlos Sanchez, 19, of Garfield, was operating the no-name bar at 492 21st Avenue, police said. He was charging people admission fee for a soccer game. Inside, Sanchez sold alcohol and beer without a liquor license, authorities said.

Police officers raided the business at 5 p.m. on Saturday, seizing 181 bottles of beer and 6 bottles of hard liquor.

Sanchez was issued summonses for selling alcohol without a license and charging admission without an entertainment license.  His business was unregistered and his store lacked a certificate of occupancy to operate out of the location.

Police seized $1,650 in illegal proceeds from sale of alcohol without a license.
