Paterson: Bicyclist dies after colliding with tow truck on River Street

A bicyclist has died after colliding with a tow truck in the area of River Street on Sunday morning, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

While riding on a bicycle Gerard Webb, 46, of Paterson, crashed into the side of a tow truck at the intersection of River and Sassafras streets at around 11:48 a.m., authorities said. He sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Saint Joseph’s University Hospital for treatment.

Webb died from his injuries at 1:23 p.m., authorities said.

Police said the tow truck driver, 38-year-old Antonino Barbera of Fair Lawn, remained at the scene. He presented a valid driver’s license to police, authorities said.
