Paterson man pleads guilty to conspiracy to distribute fentanyl

A city man pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute 400 or more grams of fentanyl on Tuesday, according to federal authorities.
Felix Acevedo, 28-year-old, entered a guilty plea before judge Katharine S. Hayden to possession with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl.
From March 2018 through March 2019, Acevedo conspired to distribute 400 or more grams of the deadly opioid 50 times more potent than heroin. Authorities said on February 20, 2019, he took possession of a parcel shipped to him at a Clifton address. He believed the parcel contained drugs and planned to deliver to a co-conspirator.
Unknown to Acevedo, law enforcement had interdicted the parcel prior to delivery and removed 997 grams of fentanyl that was contained within.
Acevedo faces life in prison and a fine up to $10 million. He is schedule to be sentenced on March 2, 2020.
