A city man was arrested with an assortment of drugs and a loaded handgun on New Year’s Day, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.

Lamound Walker, 46, has been charged with numerous weapons and drug offenses, police said. He was standing in the corner of 10th Avenue and East 26th Street with two other unidentified men at around 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

Walker became startled at seeing a marked police car and placed a plastic bag in his front right pocket. He began walking west on 10th Avenue towards East 25th Street at a fast pace while continuously looking back at the officers.

Police got out of their patrol car to speak to Walker. He began to run south on East 25th Street. Police chased him into the driveway of 473 East 25th Street. He continued to run through the driveway and into a backyard.

Police said Walker hid behind an old refrigerator. Police tried to take him into custody, but he physically resisted. After a brief struggle, Walker was subdued and placed in handcuffs.

Police seized 18 blue tinted Oxycodone pills stamped “ALV 196,” 34 bags of crack-cocaine, 1 brick of heroin, 30 glassine envelopes of heroin, and 5 baggies of marijuana. A black Sig Sauer P320 9mm handgun, Sig Sauer 9 mm 21 round magazine, and a 9mm ball ammunition was recovered.
