A man who killed his girlfriend by cutting her throat  and leaving her at the apartment, located on Broadway, to die, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, according to a local paper.

The Paterson man, Paul Stafford, 40-years-old, abused his female companion, Jarece Lampley, 28-years-old, for months, before finally killing her on May 10, 2008. The patchy trial of Mr Stafford came to an end yesterday, when the court sentenced him to 10 years in prison; he must serve at least 85-percent of the time before getting parole.

The 40-year-old’s lawyer built the entire case around Ms Lampley being promiscuous woman, who dated large number of man she met through online dating services, and that any one of those man could have been the culprit.

Mr Stafford admitted of fights and arguments with the woman hours before her death, but stated that his intention was not to kill her, and he also admitted that his behavior was reckless with little regard for human life. The man admitted he stabbed her, and left, but did not intend her death.
