Americans are more likely to die from suicide than car accidents, of course there is a choice in the former while none in the latter, according to a study published in the American Journal of Public Health.

The study took data from 2000 to 2009 which showed more Americans died as a result of falling or poisoning in order to commit suicide, than from crashes. There are also suicide attempts that go unreported around the country, which prompted the author of the study to assert that suicide is far more common than we think.

The study states, the reduction in deaths from car crashes is a direct result of better safety equipage inside cars; and the increase in suicide could be attributed to the gloomy economy.

In 2009, well over 37,000 individuals took matters into their own hands and ended it.
