Woman escapes machete attack

A woman was inside her car in 4th Avenue when a man wielding a machete struck the driver side of her vehicle while yelling loudly, frightening the female driver, according to Paterson Police.
Authorities have since arrested the man, Jonathan Martinez, 22-year-old, who they say is responsible for the attack. It is speculated that the man was attempting to steal the woman’s car by threatening her with the machete; she was able to drive off without being harmed.
Mr Martinez was later arrested in 8th Avenue where he was involved in a car accident.
The incident happened on Christmas Eve.
