Students from a fifth grade class in School 7 visited the Great Falls National Park for Earth Day, in what appears to be a concentrated effort to clean up the Passaic River.

Congressman Bill Pascrell attended the event; Jeffery Jones, the mayor of Paterson, was also there; both men delivered speeches highlighting the importance of keeping the environment clean.

The waterfall came to a halt, as hundreds of volunteers, from the city, cleaned up debris and trash out of the river and the Great Falls.

April 20th to 28th is also national park week, an entire week dedicated to encouraging citizens to visit America’s great national wonders, that make up the National Park System. Admissions into paid parks are free during the entire week.

The clean-up lead by the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission concluded little after 1pm, and the cascading waters of the Great Falls once again continued to flow.
