Six people, all from other municipalities, were arrested in Paterson, after purchasing illegal drugs from dealers near Clinton and Jefferson Streets. Officers from the Sheriff’s Department observed the buyers using strategically placed street cameras buying the narcotics, before they could leave the Sheriff’s officers pulled them over, and cuffed them.

Both Clinton and Jefferson Streets are notorious for being unsafe, violent, rundown, and crime-infested ares of the city, where drug transactions are more transparent during the day than the city government; during an event last year one of our reporter was solicited to purchase marijuana on Jefferson Street.

Those arrested were: Besart Loga, 30, of Fair Lawn;  James Patton, 25, and, Sean Murray, 24, both of Sparta; Michael Weil, 23, of Pompton Lakes; Matthew Donovan, 36, of Dumont; and Olivia Perez, 21, of West Milford; all five male and one female, the last on the list, have been charged with heroin possession.

The city’s drug problem is often exacerbated and fueled by buyers from other municipalities, an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office last week, proved just that.

All of them are set to appear before a court in Paterson.
