Elmwood Park teenager arrested selling heroin in Paterson

A drug dealer from Elmwood Park was arrested near North 6th Street in Paterson on Thursday afternoon, according to the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office.
Jahmad Green, 18, of Elmwood Park, a drug dealer, was in the area of North 6th and Cliff Street on Thursday, at around 5:30 p.m., when he was apprehended by detectives from the sheriff’s office. Earlier in the day, the Attorney General’s Office, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the sheriff’s office setup surveillance in the area to catch drug dealers. Officers noticed Green and another individual completing a transaction; “Detectives observed a drug transaction take place,” according to Richard Berdnik.
After authorities approached, Green did not wait, he “attempted to flee the scene on foot.” Officers chased him down, and cuffed him. “Approximately 500 glassine envelopes of suspected Heroin” was in Green’s possession, according to the office, at the time of arrest.
“Green was arrested and charged with Possession of Heroin more than one half ounce/ w/attempt to Dist. same within 500 ft. of Belmont Senior Apartments/ Resisting Arrest,” read a statement issued by Berdnik. Green remains in Paterson Police Department lockup, where he is on $50,000 bail with no 10-percent option.
