Paterson Community Health Center gets $201,594 federal grant

The Paterson Community Health Center is slated to receive a $201,594 federal grant to help provide enrollment assistance to uninsured residents, announced Bill Pascrell, Jr., congressman representing New Jersey’s 9th Federal District.
“The funds announced today, issued by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), will allow health centers like Paterson Community Health Center, Inc. to meet immediate needs, including expanding the hours of existing outreach and enrollment assistance workers, and hiring new or temporary outreach and enrollment assistance workers,” read a statement from the congressman’s office.
“Having face-to-face assistance from community partners like Paterson Community Health Center ensures that families will get the help they need in understanding their insurance options and to get enrolled,” said Pascrell in a written statement.
By expanding the hours of outreach workers and hiring new employees the center, located on Broadway, will be able to reach more residents, and help them opt-into healthcare insurance plans from the online healthcare exchange. The grant will be disbursed in installments: the center will receive $130,863 this year, and next year it will receive the rest of it: $70,731. The city isn’t alone in receiving federal grant funding, 1,157 health centers around the United States received similar grants to enroll as many uninsured residents as they can.
“These federal resources couldn’t come at a better time as millions of Americans continue to learn about the quality, affordable health coverage available to them through the ACA,” said the congressman. I’ll continue to fight to ensure New Jerseyans have the federal resources they need to realize the full benefits of the law.”
