Grand jury meeting date set for Rigo Rodriguez

A grand jury is to meet to deliberate on the case involving Rigo Rodriguez, mayoral candidate and councilman at-large, who was charged with witness tampering and tampering public record in 2010.
After three years, Rodriguez said he is glad to have his day in court. Rodriguez was in court along with his wife Lissette Rodriguez, who is charged with the same alleged infractions as her husband. 14 people connected to Rodriguez’s council at-large election were arrested on December 2nd, 2010. Juan Jimenez, who was the campaign manager for Rodriguez’s 2010 council at-large run, was also charged with the same.
Lucia Guzman, a campaign staffer, had the same charges levied against her as well. On Thursday morning Guzman, who is the mother of Wendy Guzman, a school board member, was entered into a Pre Trial Intervention Program for cooperating with the State’s investigation. Jimenez, who is likely to be entered into the same program, has been given a court date for February. Guzman is scheduled for a court date on January 27th, 2014.
Jimenez is currently managing the mayoral election campaign of Maria Teresa Feliciano.
A grand jury is to meet on January 29th, 2014 to review evidence and decide whether to indict Rodriguez and his wife. “It’s long over due,” said Rodriguez while leaving the court. “People must know the truth.”
