10 Paterson students receive scholarships to attend college

A group of city teenagers in their final year at the Passaic County Technical Institute received full scholarships from Berkeley College, a four-year business school in Woodland Park.

The high school seniors, all residents of the city, will be able to obtain a bachelor’s degree, so long as each is enrolled full time and is able to maintain a high grade-point-average, according to the college.

“They deserve these scholarships, which can go a long way in helping the next generation of students access a well-rounded, career-focused education,” said Dario Cortes, the school’s president, in a statement last week.

Students, high achieving seniors, will have to renew their scholarship every academic year to ensure each is maintaining a high level of academic performance in college. The college which charges $22,000 per year in tuition, released a list of students who have been awarded scholarships:

“These students have demonstrated their ability and desire to further their achievements by pursuing a college degree,” said Cortes.
