Two city police officers, who were injured while on duty, are set to receive $17,132, after filing workers compensation claims against the city.

Rachel Guzman, a city police officer, injured herself while conducting search for weapons and suspects inside a building on June 14, 2011. Guzman “allegedly injured her right foot, right leg and left leg when she fell through a weak board on stairs while conducting a search of a building for suspects and weapons,” according to city documents.

The city is settling the claim with $12,132.50.

Shirley Gomez, another city police officer, injured herself while investigating a burglary on February 5th, 2013. Gomez “fell through a hole of a vacant apartment floor,” according to city documents. She injured her back, neck, ribs, and right leg.

The city is settling Gomez’s claim with $5,000. City officials approved the settlements on Tuesday.
