A vehicle passing by on Rosa Parks Boulevard released a flurry of bullets at a group of people hanging outside near the corner of Putnam Street on Tuesday night, wounding three people, according to the Paterson Police Department.

The group of people congregated at the intersection of Putnam and Rosa Parks Boulevard at around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday when an armed suspect sitting in the backseat of a white sedan passing by released a flurry of bullets wounding three.

The first victim, 25-year-old man, was shot in the foot. The second victim, 24-year-old woman, was grazed by bullet in the buttocks. The third victim, 32-year-old woman, was wounded in the right and left leg, according to police.

All three were transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment. Each has been treated and released, according to police.

After releasing bullets at the group, the vehicle sped down Putnam Street. “The vehicle then fled down Putnam Street toward River Street,” said Patrick Murray, detective lieutenant. “Detectives are currently canvassing the area for possible witnesses and reviewing area camera footage at this time.”
