35-year-old wounded in North 6th Street

A city resident was wounded in a shooting near Clinton Street during the evening hours of Tuesday, according to the Paterson Police Department.

The victim, 35-year-old, city resident, was in the area of Clinton and North 6th streets at around 7:50 p.m. on Tuesday when gunfire rang out. Police responded to the scene after receiving alert of gunfire in the area.

“On arrival, officers located a crime scene and a 35 year old city resident with gunshot wounds to the abdomen and buttocks,” said Patrick Murray, head of the Ceasefire Unit.

The victim was rushed to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment. The victim is in stable condition, according to police.

“Detectives are currently conducting interviews and canvassing the area for possible witnesses, as well as area video footage,” said Murray. “A possible motive for the incident, and whether or not the victim was the intended target has not yet been established.”
