City organizations hold events for Global Youth Service Day

Three youth community clean-up and gardening events have been scheduled by the New Jersey Community Development Corporation and Americorps to commemorate Global Youth Service Day.
“On April 12th Saturday from 8AM to 6PM Full Service Community School #5 will be having our community garden build and clean up. All are welcomed to come. Food will be served at 12PM,” announced Gilman Choudhury, parent coordinator with the city’s public school district, in an email.
Event locations:
School #5 (430 Totowa Ave.) – start: 8 a.m. end: 2 p.m.
William Carlos Williams Community Plaza (Corner of Grand St. & Jersey St.) — start: 10 a.m. end: 2 p.m.
Community Charter School of Paterson (75 Spruce St.) — start: 10 a.m. end: 2 p.m.
The clean-up event at the corner of Jersey and Grand streets and the Spruce Street event will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 2 p.m. with free lunch.
Produce from the Elysian Fields, the community garden at School Five, will be handed to needy families, according to Choudhury.
