Two city men were wounded during an early Sunday morning shooting on East 28th Street, according to the Paterson Police Department.
The first victim, 18-year-old, and the second victim, 19-year-old, were walking together on East 28th Street towards 10th Avenue at around 12:10 a.m. on Sunday when a vehicle pulled up and began firing.
Police said the vehicle was possibly a black four door sedan from which “numerous shots were fired,” according to Patrick Murray, head of the Ceasefire Unit. “The vehicle then fled in an unknown direction,” said Murray.
Both victims were rushed to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical for treatment. The 18-year-old who sustained a gunshot wound to the right upper leg was treated and released. The 19-year-old who sustained gunshot wounds to the right leg and right foot is in stable condition at the hospital, according to police.
“Detectives are conducting a canvass for area video footage and possible witnesses, and the investigation is continuing at this time,” said Murray.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Francisco Brito of the Ceasefire Unit at 973-321-1342.
