During a traffic stop near 21st Avenue on Tuesday two city residents were arrested in possession of five bricks of heroin, announced Richard Berdnik, the Passaic County Sheriff.

Manuel Valentin, 39, and Alyson Magnus, 38, both city resident, were apprehended when detectives from the sheriff’s office observed a green Toyota circling several times around the block at the intersection of Straight Street and 21st Avenue on Tuesday.

Detectives pulled over the vehicle and found Valentin in the driver seat and Magnus in the passenger seat. Magnus was spotted rising from her seat and tucking “an object in the front of her pants,” according to the sheriff.

“An investigation by the detectives resulted in Magnus turning over five “bricks” or 250 glassine envelopes of heroin, with a street value of approximately $2,500,” said Berdnik.

Officers then visited Magnus’s residence on Church Street and recovered more drugs. “An additional 100 glassine envelopes of heroin and over $12,000 in cash was recovered at the Church Street address,” said the sheriff.

In total detectives recovered 350 glassine envelopes of heroin.

Both were charged with being in possession of controlled dangerous substances and both were transferred to Paterson Police Department lockup pending bail.
