A city man wanted on kidnapping and robbery charges was apprehended by two police officers on Friday, announced Richard Berdnik, Passaic County Sheriff.

Marvin Graham, 37-year-old, was brought into custody by two city police officers when the fugitive was spotted inside a black BMW on Pearl Street, Berdnik said.

Police officers Daniel Findlay and Michael Quinones recognized Graham from wanted posters and newspaper articles.

The sheriff pointed out an article in the Record from April when an off-duty sheriff’s officer chased and apprehended two robbery suspects near Caldwell and McBride Avenues. The off-duty officer captured both suspects, but another suspect Graham managed to escape.

Graham remained a fugitive since April 4th, 2014, Berdnik said.

Authorities charged Graham following an investigation of the McBride Avenue robbery. “During investigation his identity was revealed as a fourth individual involved in the crime,” the sheriff said.  “As a result the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division filed warrants for Graham’s arrest.”

“Graham had been previously indicted on First Degree Armed Robbery, Second Degree Kidnapping, Second Degree Robbery, Second Degree Weapons Possession and other third and fourth degree crimes,” the sheriff said.

Findlay and Quinones contacted the sheriff’s office after handcuffing the suspect on Friday advising detectives that the suspect was brought into custody without an incident.

“I want to commend these Officers for their hardworking in helping to bring this fugitive to justice,” Berdnik said.
