A group of organizations and volunteers teamed up to upgrade the playground in School 27 on Saturday afternoon equipping it with a triple racer slide, a super-dome, a four-seat see-saw, and the criss cross.
The new playground will serve some 1,200 city children, according to New Jersey Community Development Corporation (NJCDC).
“Our city’s children need and deserve safe, vibrant places to engage in meaningful play during and beyond school hours so they can nourish their various developmental stages and simply be kids,” chief executive officer of NJCDC Robert Guarasci said. “This new playground will do just that for the children and families of School 27 and the surrounding neighborhood.”
Volunteers from the city’s public school system, NJCDC, KaBOOM!, and Alexandra’s Playground assembled the playground in less than six hours. Volunteers mixed thousands of pounds of concrete to build the playground.
“On behalf of the Paterson Public School district and School 27 in particular, I would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the organizations who worked so closely to make this new playground a reality for us,” school’s principal Frank Puglise said. “Alexandra’s Playground, the New Jersey Community Development Corporation, the Paterson Kids and of course, KaBOOM! have collaborated to provide the School 27 family and greater community with a clean, safe, and inspiring recreational space. Let the fun begin!”
