Two teenagers were nabbed on Chadwick Street during the evening hours of Saturday when sheriff’s officers spotted an illegally parked vehicle near Weiss Street, according to the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office.

The two suspects Partha Patel, 18, and a minor, 16, both of Little Falls were brought into custody by sheriff’s officers at around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teenagers were inside a tan four-door Lexus that was illegally parked on Chadwick Street near Weiss Street.

Sheriff’s Officers Jose Vargas and John Tolerico found strong marijuana odor emanating from the vehicle upon approach. Vargas observed in the center console of the vehicle a black cup inside of which were several yellow zip lock baggies of what appeared to be marijuana, according to Sheriff Richard Berdnik.

Vargas ordered the vehicle’s driver Patel to step out of the vehicle advising him he was under arrest. Subsequently, Tolerico ordered the 16-year-old to step out of the vehicle. As the suspect was getting out he kicked his already opened backpack revealing several bags of marijuana and 16 Xanax pills along with drug paraphernalia, according to authorities.

Patel and the minor were charged with various drug offenses. The 16-year-old was released to his parents pending a family court hearing, authorities said. Patel was released on his own recognizance with pending appearance before the municipal court on Monday.
