A city man was apprehended by sheriff’s officers last night after he exposed his genital to a woman and two kids walking on Grand and Marshall streets, according to Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik.

Edwin Miranda, 46-year-old, approached a woman and two kids walking in the vicinity of Grand and Marshall streets at around 6:16 p.m. on Wednesday, and exposed himself to them. Miranda was shouting profanity at the woman and kids as he was approaching them, Berdnik said.

The woman told Miranda stop and leave them alone, Berdnik said, but he ignored her. The suspect then pulled down his pants and exposed his genital parts in front of the three victims, Berdnik said.

Miranda was intoxicated when he exposed himself to the mother and her two sons. Sheriff’s officers arrived on the scene and arrested Miranda charging him with two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, disorderly persons offense, and four counts of lewdness.

“It was essential that this issue be addressed immediately,” Berdnik said. “Individuals should have the opportunity to walk our streets without an individual acting in a lewd manner.”
