Two men were wounded in one or more shooting incident that took place Thursday night, according to the Paterson Police Department. Police are investigating whether the two men were wounded in the same shooting incident.

The first victim, 20-year-old, was wounded inside the third floor apartment of a home located on East 19th Street between Park and 17th avenues at around 10:05 p.m. on Thursday.

Police said the victim was transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment.

“At this time it appears that the first victim was inside the East 19 Street residence when a male entered the residence and shot him,” Patrick Murray, head of the Ceasefire Unit, said. Murray said a second victim arrived at the hospital moments late.

The second victim arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm, Murray said. Murray said detectives are attempting to piece together whether the two victims were injured in the same incident.

This week has been a violent one for the city where two people were wounded in a shooting inside the 9th floor of a Presidential Boulevard high-rise early Wednesday morning just hours before another shooting took place outside a grocery store on Vreeland Avenue that wounded a man. A third shooting the same day on Grimes Place resulted in a Clifton man being shot in the back as he drove pass a nearby public housing project.

Police continue to investigate the shootings. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Detective Francisco Brito or Detective Christopher Ravallese of The Ceasefire Unit at 973-321-1342.
